Happy New Year

Pussy cat, pussy cat, where have you been?
I’ve been down to London to visit the Queen.
Pussy cat, pussy cat, what did you there?
I frightened a little mouse, under her chair.

I was reflecting on the above poem over the Christmas holidays and got to thinking about the great opportunity the cat in the poem had.

Not only did it have the opportunity to travel, the cat also had the opportunity to meet someone great. But, as it admits, when presented with this great opportunity, it decided to frighten a mouse, rather than speak to the Queen.

I have no doubt that 2019, like the years before it will present many great opportunities. Some of those may seem very clearly as opportunities, others may present looking more like challenges or hurdles.

However your opportunities present, I encourage you to identify them, and make the most of them. While many are likely to come around again, some will not, and it is hard to determine which is which at the time.

You don’t want to get to the end of 2019 and be like the pussycat that returns from a great opportunity, with only a story of how the opportunity was wasted.
